Four Die As Lagos Ends Rescue Operations For Collapsed 3-Storey Building

No fewer than four occupants of the three-storey building that collapsed in Mushin Local Government, Lagos State, have been confirmed dead and one other rescued under the rubbles at the site.

The four deceased occupants of the ill-fated building were said to be two females and two males who were inside the building when it caved in.

The Southwest zonal coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the casualties figure to newsmen on Friday.

Farinloye, who disclosed that the search and rescue operations have been concluded, stated that all that was currently being done at the site was to cart away rubbles and demolition of adjoining building by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

The NEMA officials explained to newsmen that two bodies were recovered from the building sited along Isolo road.

He noted that two bodies were first recovered by the emergency officials from the building that partially caved at about 1 pm.

The spokesperson for the agency disclosed that the death toll increased to four at about 7:30 am when another two bodies, a male and female, were brought out under the rubbles.
